You will need a clean and smooth cotton cloth such as an old undershirt or white sock for applying the polish. A horsehair brush is great for polishing the sides of heavy duty boots. A bottle of rubbing alcohol is needed to strip the factory coating of a new shoe before polishing. It is also good to have handy any time you are polishing for cleaning purposes. You will need a container of standard black or neutral polish to start off the initial layers and a container of neutral or black parade gloss to use for top coating. Neutral polish can be used as a third top coat on black shoes for added shine and weather proofing. If you are polishing boots you probably will want to use a heel and shoe edge color renew to clean up any discoloration at the edges of your boots. Before you start polishing, lay newspaper down where you will be working to protect the area from hard to remove polish stains. If you are working with a new pair of boots or shoes, strip the top layer of factory polish to achieve the maximum amount of shine and protective coating. To strip factory polish, make a mixture of part water and part rubbing alcohol and use a clean cloth to generously apply the mixture to the entire shoe. Once the cloth is clear and is no longer picking up color, apply your first layers of polish. Wrap your cleaning cloth around your index and middle fingers, then dip the cloth into water followed by polish. Apply the polish over the entire surface, dipping the cloth back into the water and polish as often as needed. Once you have the first layer completed, allow the shoes to dry before applying the next coat. Repeat this process at least three times when polishing new shoes. The layers need to be as smooth and even as possible, so apply the polish in small, circular motions. If you are having trouble smoothing out your layers, try adding a bit of rubbing alcohol to the water you are using. After you have achieved a good foundation of polish layers, add shine by applying the parade gloss with a cloth that is moistened with water and alcohol. Apply as many coats as necessary to achieve the desired shine. Reapply the gloss every few weeks using the water and alcohol mixture to maintain shine and protect your shoes. Having shoes that are well shined can improve your overall outfit or ensemble. After buying a new pair of shoes, it best to. However, Fujimori's lead over the third placed candidate former finance minister Pedro Pablo Kuczynski was narrow, meaning he could still have a chance of contesting the run off, the polls showed. In the run up to Sunday's election, Humala had a lead over his three leading rivals, who are favoured by big business in one of the world's fastest growing economies. Despite a decade long boom, a third of Peruvians live in poverty and low income voters were expected to hand Sunday's victory to Humala, a former army officer who has softened his tone since narrowly losing the 2006 race. A Datum exit poll gave Humala 33.8 percent of the vote, followed by Fujimori with 21.3 percent. Former prime minister Pedro Pablo Kuczynski had 19.5 percent and former President Alejandro Toledo, 15.2 percent. The results were similar in an Ipsos exit poll that showed Humala with 31.6 percent, Fujimori with 21.4 percent, Kuczynski on 19.2 percent and Toledo, 16.1 percent. A CPI poll gave a similar reading. Humala, a former army officer, has moderated his tone since narrowly losing the 2006 race. Humala's rivals have sought to hurt his chances by saying he would step up state control over the economy, rolling back reforms and jeopardizing some $40 billion of foreign investment lined up for the next decade in mining and energy exploration. But Humala has surged in the race by shedding his hardline image and recasting himself as a soft left leader in the vein of former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Humala has promised "gradual" change to ensure the country's decade long boom reaches the one third of Peruvians who have been left behind in poverty. He has taken to wearing ties, carrying rosary beads to show he is a devout Roman Catholic and promising to be fiscally prudent while respecting the independence of the central bank and honouring the country's many free trade pacts. Those tactics have persuaded some on Wall Street and in Peru's vast mining sector that he has matured and is no longer like his brother and father, two well known Peruvian radicals. Some political analysts see him as South America's next Lula, unlike more strident leftists like Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, from whom Humala has sought to distance himself. Olympic 7s,They were hoping to draw 1,000 bikers to the first Red Island Run, Aug. 27 29, an event that is now expected to grow each year. The Digby rally attracts an estimated 40,000 bikers each year.Organizers have their eye on the Digby rally because it started six years ago with 175 bikers."Between the poker runs, the tribute ride and just general donations from people who came out for the event, we were very, very fortunate,'' said Sharon Hollingsworth, communications manager with the foundation."For a first time event we were quite overwhelmed at how very successful it was.''Myrtle Jenkins Smith, CEO of Tourism Charlottetown, which organized the rally, said there were some nervous moments bringing it to the Island. "I did the research on it myself three years ago, to see if we should have one this year. It was a different type of event to co ordinate, there's no question.''A quick meeting with one of the motorcycle participants, a woman who runs a newsletter in Alberta, quickly put her mind at ease.Jenkins Smith said she was told each biker spends, on average, $450 per day on things like food, accommodations, the ferry and the bridge."They buy everything. They don't come with anything. They leave a lot of money wherever they go.''While the Digby rally is the largest in the Maritimes, the big one on the calendar each year in North America is the one in Sturgis, South Dakota. Each year, that one draws anywhere from 400,000 to 600,000 motorcycles. event included a poker run, which raised the $7,500 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, motorcycle parade that featured 400 bikes, entertainment, vendors and a trade show. Some bikes were even for sale, some carrying a cool $70,000 price tag.Hollingsworth said there's no question next year's event will only be bigger."It can only grow from here,'' she said.i went on the run throught town their was only 236 bikes that took part where are they getting 400 to 600 bikes and 1200 bikes well sunday morning their was not one bike in the parking lot they letting drive up where the event was happening look at their pictures out at drags their wasn't to many out their either sorry it wasn't the liberal goverment who had the the doing with this it was city of charlottetown and tourism pei who had the doing with it i would liketo see really numbers and see where the people of charlootetown tax dollars are going they should when out to vactionland less dollars and ahell of agood time be back next year at vactionland first trip here and enjoy it ihope its happening next year at vactionlandThere are a number of problems with this "story" (basically just a press release; no journalist claims credit). First, the headline is not backed up by the story. From my observation, most of the bikes present were not from off island. This in turn knocks off the $450 per biker number: most local bikers stayed at home and did not spend a fortune on food, bridge or souvenirs. From the events I saw (the parade, the poker run), there were nowhere near 600+ bikes/1200 bikers whether from the Island or away. What are the actual figures for ticket sales? Of those, what percent are from off island?A lot of our dollars went into this., We have a right to have the spin free facts. The problem with the way numbers are calculated by the "spin doctors" of these events, is that they always use the aggregate attendance over the total number of event days. If I drop in for an activity or 2 on each of the 3 days, and I have a guest, we magically become 6 bikers that spent $2700, even though I live 15 minutes away. The big question is, how many people registered and paid their $65 registration fee?If the answer is 1200, then I withdraw my comment. This type of "spin doctoring" would also have us believe that the Cavendish Music Festival has a 6 digit attendance number which, of course, is a total load of crap.Jenkins Smith said she was told each biker spends, on average, $450 per day on things like food, accommodations, the ferry and the bridge.

Chong was nauseous at halftime of the Pride's enormous, deservedly hyped game against Christ The King Friday, in front of a packed gymnasium, and in front of Auriemma, her coach next season who couldn't even find a seat. Chong had been shut out in the first quarter by one of the best teams any area team will play this season; she'd missed a couple of free throws and had just nine points at the half. And her teammates her mostly very young teammates kept Ossining in the game and kind of lived up to the team nickname, which happens to be Pride. Eventually Chong got going, and boy, she gets unstoppable then. She had 17 points after three quarters, and then piled up 29 of Ossining's 32 points in the fourth to finish with 46 to go along with 11 assists, seven rebounds, four steals and two big blocked shots in an 89 84 win. "I talked to her one on one during a timeout," Ricci said, "and I said, 'Girl, your teammates are playing their hearts out for you. You need to step up. You've just got to take this game over.' And she did." By halftime Chong's nausea set in, and her stomach began to ache. But she's done this before. Twice last year, while "sick as a dog" in Ricci's words, she scored 55 against Irvington and against Nazareth. "Just knowing that I don't want to give up on my team, and feeling sick just makes me want to go 10 times harder," Chong said. "I don't want to give up on my team and I know they won't give up on me." Eighth grader Andra Espinoza Hunter scored 18, including five 3 pointers and Auriemma raved about her to Ricci after the game. Freshman Shadeen Samuels had 12, all in the first half, and six rebounds, and is a crucial player filling in for big contributor Destini Walker, who left Ossining during the summer. Jalay Knowles, a sophomore, had 11 points and six boards. Ricci had been worried that some of his younger players lost their confidence after the 0 3 visit to the Nike tournament in Phoenix, in which the Pride was pounded by three national powers. Against CTK, that trip paid dividends. "They look like scared rabbits in Arizona, shy, in hiding, and letting Saniya do everything," Ricci said. "Today they stepped up." So did the visitors, who started the second half with a 10 2 run for a 48 41 lead that was eventually wiped out with a pair of Espinoza Hunter 3 pointers. Ricci said Chong is probably the best senior in the state, and Christ the King's Sierra Calhoun (30 points) maybe the best junior. Kollyns Scarbrough also had 30 for the Royals, ranked eighth in the state in Class AA. The No. 1 Pride, the two time defending Section 1 AA champ, put a late box and one on Calhoun, who also could be UConn bound (her brother plays there). "It's not just me on the team," she said. "There's no 'I' in team. For me to get the ball to my teammates and for them to get the ball in the basket, that's a huge step for us. It's just going to get us better each and every game. That's going to cause problems for other teams."
