Next stop Dermalogica Recently I have been a skincare hoarder just going to the drugstore and picking up new face washes, scrubs, masks etc etc. but I don have a set routine so I wanted a new routine that was going to be made easy. Colette was the lady I saw and she sat me down and went through the face mapping with me and turns out I have normal skin! I was quite surprised at this as I been told I got Oily/Combination before, so it was really interesting to have her explain all that to me and learn about different skin types. So whilst knowing my skin type she got together a few products to go through a daily routine with me. We tried all the products out I really loved how they felt on my skin. The first product I got was a which is an oil based product so you massage into dry skin and it dissolves through any residue and even waterproof makeup and then once you add water it turns into a milky formula to just wash away. It penetrates a lot more than your average cleanser and I loved how clean it left my skin. Then I got the Cleansing Gel which is soap free and so refreshing!! You foam it up over your face and it has Calming Balm Mint (you know I love mint !) and Lavender extracts which soothe the skin and it just foams away any excess toxins and debris leaving your skin super clean. So love these two together! Then my face so I picked my little sad ass up and asked for a nude Lip Liner as this was another reason I had gone and I chose the colour Bare which is the PERRRRFECT nude and with that I got another D Lipstick as this is my fav before but that would also go really well with the Lip Liner. So he rummaging through the lip drawer and what does he find BEURRE!!! Ah heavens opened so I obviously grabbed the last one MU HA HA HAAAA ! To be honest he tried Beurre on me and it was a little too dark for me so he just hit a nude lipstick in the middle which created an Ombre effect and that again sold it to me. It was between Rose a beautiful rose gold colour, or Vanilla which won! Vanilla is just a beautiful pearlscent white colour which can be used as an eyeshadow or what I will mainly be using it as, a highlighter. And then Merritt will get into the starting blocks and try to accomplish what he says God blessed him to be: the fastest quarter miler on the planet. "I've been given a gift and I know it and appreciate it every day," said the 25 year old Merritt, who has spent the past several months preparing for the trials, which begin today, by training under noted speed coach Loren Seagrave at the IMG Academies in Bradenton. "I know firsthand it can be taken away from you, just like that." Merritt, whose event begins Friday, had his gift put in limbo for nearly two years when he received a ban from track for ingesting steroid derivatives found in an over the counter male enhancement pill. But far more devastating was the loss of his older brother, who, during his freshman year of college, leaped from the window of his eighth floor dorm room and died from the injuries. The incident came following an altercation with three other students, all of whom were acquitted of manslaughter charges. LaShawn was 13 when he lost Antwan, whom he said was his "hero." "He never got to see me run track," Merritt said. "Now, everything I do in track is for him." Merritt admits taking the male enhancement product was a dumb mistake. He wasn't expecting it to help him run faster, since he was a world class athlete the 2008 Olympic and 2009 world champion at 400 meters. The lapse in judgment was not only a huge embarrassment to Merritt, it tarnished his once spotless reputation. "I just couldn't believe it (the positive test) was for that," Merritt said. "I was like, 'Really? For this? Really?' '' Fortunately for Merritt, he didn't receive the maximum penalty for first time offenders. With the help of the testimony of the 7 Eleven clerk who sold him the product near his home in Portsmoth, Va., doping officials were convinced he didn't take the supplement to gain an athletic advantage. He was given a 21 month ban, a duration that allowed him to compete in last year's World Championships in South Korea. Last October, Merritt got another victory off the track when the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned a rule that prevented athletes who received doping bans of six months or longer from competing in the next Olympics, even if they had served their suspension. As a result, he was cleared to compete in this week's trials for a shot at London. "It was a great, great feeling," Merritt said. "I'm a competitor. I love being on the track and competing. And when you can't do that for almost two years, you really appreciate what that means." Merritt said his 21 months away from competition meant a complete loss of income. As soon as his ban went into effect, his shoe sponsor, Nike, cut him from its payroll. For the next two years, he said he lived frugally off the money he had saved. And during that time, Merritt said he had to use all of it while living with his parents. Although he continued to train, Merritt said his life was in a holding pattern. When the ban ended, he decided he needed a change. After a chance meeting with Seagrave at an airport, Merritt moved to Bradenton, where he could train every day in good weather at IMG's world class facility. Seagrave, who also coaches two time Olympic 400 meter hurdles champion Angelo Taylor, believes Merritt has plenty of "untapped potential," enough to give him a shot at Michael Johnson's 400 world record of 43.18 seconds. And as a more mature athlete than he was before the ban, Seagrave said Merritt will get there if he can get his 200 meter time in the low 19 second range. "He's certainly anxious to come back and prove this (steroid ban) was something he didn't do intentionally," Seagrave said.
