SALVADOR, Brazil (AP) They captured the eyes and hearts of a suddenly awakened soccer nation, who gathered in unprecedented numbers to watch the world game. But the end of the ride came at the exact same point as four years ago: with an overtime loss in the WorldCup round of 16. Kevin De Bruyne finally beat goalkeeper Tim Howard in the third minute of extra time, Romelu Lukaku scored 12 minutes later to give Belgium a two goal lead, and the Red Devils hung on for a 2 1 victory Tuesday. heartbreaking, Howard said. don think we could have given it more. showed the spunk that captured America attention. roster, stuck out his right foot to volley in Michael Bradley pass over the defense in the 107th minute, two minutes after entering the game. They nearly tied it up in the 114th, when Clint Dempsey peeled off the ball and was stopped point blank by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after being fed by Bradley on a free kick. players fell to the field at the final whistle in their all white uniforms like so many crumpled tissues. get to this point and these games are always about a play here and play there, Bradley said. The Americans advanced from a difficult first round group that included Germany, Portugal and Ghana to reach the knockout rounds of consecutive WorldCups for the first time. Four years ago, they were eliminated in South Africa by Ghana 1 0 on a goal in the third minute of overtime. Fans who had made the trek south of the equator chanting believe that we will win! could hardly believe they lost, extending a WorldCup winless streak against European nations to nine games over 12 years. Back home, millions watched across the United States in offices, homes and public gatherings that includes a huge crowd in Chicago Soldier Field. At some large financial firms in Manhattan, 70 inch screens were brought in for employees to watch. President Barack Obama joined about 200 staffers in an Executive Office Building auditorium to watch the second half. believe! he exclaimed as he walked in at the front of the hall. He wound up with 16 saves. had promised to play attacking soccer. But once again the Americans had trouble maintaining possession and for much of the night it seemed as if the field were tilted. Howard, at 35 one of the American veterans, kept saving his team. But when Matt Besler lost his balance on an attack down the right, Lukaku sped in alone and crossed in front of the goal. The ball rebounded off a defender, and De Bruyne controlled it, spun and beat Howard just over his right foot. Chris Wondolowski had a chance to win it in stoppage time when Jermaine Jones flicked the ball to him at the top of the 6 yard box, but with Courtois coming out Wondolowski put the ball over the crossbar. The concerns seem to center around whether or not the whiskey has any motivational effect on making the crocodile more receptive to the idea. For a while, I wondered why they were asking me but then it dawned on me that I was the one who wrote the poem in the first place. On that basis, I decide to give this whole thing its due consideration. Now some have expressed their sadness that they live so far inland that the crocs and gators do not frequent their universe. This has deprived them or might have so severely inflated the price of a pair of fine croc o gators that they are out of reach of that person's budget. They can only walk by the store and wish as they pass the shoes displayed in the window. This causes me to wonder as to whether there might be a market for your quasi crocsyou know, looks like the real stuff but ain't? I'll bet the Chinese are working on that right now. If so, I am sure it will make the crocodiles and alligators very happy when these products hit the market. Maybe I could get ol' Tony Joe White to record it and really put the right twist on the verses for me. He has been on a dry spell for a while now so he should be desperate enough to work cheap especially if I threw in a pair of "croc o gator" shoes in the deal. Chomp, Chomp! I thought about starting a mail order croc o gator business but then it dawned on me that the Post Office probably frowns on that. After all, what good is a three fingered postman when it comes time to sort the mail? "Dang, Joe! Looks like you been deliverin' them mail order gators again! Were you able to recover the rest of that finger from the croc?" Now, this is probably why the Post Office is losing money. They are way too picky about what they ship. Them boys need to buck up down there, buy a pair of gloves and start deliverin' them gators. Imagine the funsurprise gifts arriving in brown paper wrapping for all those relatives you have not seen. Open the end of that box and somewhat mad baby crocodile scurries out and bites a chunk out of ya. Them relatives won't forget that Christmas. No sir and neither will the mailman. Sooner or later someone is going to figure out how to raise them miniature baby crocs and gators, you know, like they do them little horses? Yeah, they are gonna figure that out then folks will be able to get what looks like a baby crocodile but ain't and keep it in their shirt pocket at work. You could also get a big truck and just drive around the deep inland areas of the country selling your baby crocs out the back as you go. Man, would those folks up that way be glad to see you or what? I'll bet some of them go to sleep at night dreamin' of ownin' their own baby crocodileyou know something to keep in the backyard with the pit bull. Yessireee Bob! You get to thinkin' about them crocs and gators and all kinds of things just come to mind all at once. I think I'll just take the rest of the day off and think on that for a while so I'll know what my options are if I ever have the option to buy into one of them crocodile farms down there in Florida. According to Clint Eastwood, that makes a lot of sense because, "a man has to know his limitations." Oh, wellOh Lord I got 'em, I got the Croc O Gator Blues! My Minds Eye53 2 years ago from Tennessee I have been to Florida and seen those gator heads, creepy, sitting there along side of those jaws full of sharks teeth. Maybe they will give me an honorary one! Ha! WB The Frog Prince 2 years ago from Arlington, TX Level 4 Commenter Being a Florida Gator I'll mull this one over. ' The Frog Truckstop Sally 2 years ago Gotta love Polk Salad Annie. Been a while since I heard it! Our newspaper paper had a big article this week about reality shows like Hillbilly Handfishin', Big Shrimp in, Lizard Lick Towing . . . Thinking you may have found a niche here. And that ditch just grows wider and wider. Ha! I just heard that a woman found a gator in her toilet! You can also find them climbing out of the canals in Florida and sunning themselves on the lawn after downing a family pet! I think I have a gator bag in my closet. It could be worth millions! Up funny and awesome. Such Quality Of Cheap Air Jordan 9 Motorboat Jones,Air Jordan 10 Powder Blue 2014 (Scotianbank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium Vancouver, BC) With less than a month to go before the bells and whistles of the Vancouver Sun Run get going, here are a few things I have learned during my training. 1) You have to listen to your body. When the aches and pains grow in intensity, you don have to be a stunt double from the movie Act of Valor, you simply need to step back, let things heal or rest and then ramp it up once things feel back to normal. I have missed the past few weeks with my running clinic because the ol knee decided to teach me this valuable lesson. First, I am not 18 anymore and secondly and more importantly when its time to pull it back a bit, you are best served to listen. Nothing is worse than having to completely stop your training because you didn listen and now with a month I feel like I have to cram for a mid term to simply finish this goal of mine. 2) Alot of your success has to do with your footwear. I cannot tell you the difference I have felt since I traded in my heavy but fashionable Nike for the wide fitting, cushion filled New Balance shoes that really have added distance to my run. I now own two pair of New Balance running shoes as the first pair I got just sold me so much on what I can gain from having the shoes Absolutely love them and thanks to my friends over at Rackets Runners (23rd and Oak St.), I can wear my New Balance jacket and fitted jacket with pride knowing they will keep me insulated and prepared for any training I have to do between now and race day. Clothing is crucial and I just never realized it until I got educated about it. You hear it on TV and through the radio ads you hear from time to time, but man, to physically see the improvements with my own eyes is unforgettable. Yes, it might cost you a wee bit more, but the return on investment is some of the best you will find anywhere. PS: I have to say once more that I have been blown away by the customer service I have received at Rackets Runner on Oak Street. Knowledgeable, super easy going and willing to listen before they speak, I will recommend the entire Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club to do business with Rackets Runners this summer because I believe this little store on oak Street is the best in the business. I am not getting paid to say this nor am I the benefactor of this opinion. I just know above and beyond customer service when I see it and the product they carry is top shelf as well. They are a winner. 3) Garbage In, Garbage Out. I learned this from a wonderful woman once that what you put into your body nutrition wise is likely what you will get back as you train toward a big event. I am the of the drive thru meaning I am the guy yelling into the microphone at any variety of restaurant type joints throughout the Lower Mainland. But don buy stock in them just yet, as my days of three patty burgers, extra thick milkshakes and two pies because one apparently isn enough is over. Am I suddenly going to become a vegan or the guy that grins and acts like lentils are fun to eat. Nope. But I do know that my caloric intake for the day needs to drop and the type of food I put into my system matters. Think of your car. You put clean, fluid gas into the system and keep things up to spec, you get a great life with a good car. You sure don open the gas tank and throw a quart of molasses into it, or a pound of sugar yet that what many of us do everyday. Junk really is and we gotta be better at it together. Lastly, 4) You gotta keep it positive. What is Well for me, it is the week after I have started something. When suddenly the couch doesn look that bad and the work at times can get daunting out at the ballpark. Simply put, you have to make time for your body and your health it is as non negotiable as not drinking a pound of poison that lurks beneath your kitchen sink. You just have to get up, smile in the mirror, realize there is some kid in a wheelchair right now that would die for the chance to run the length of your street and just get it done. I love living, I love my children, family and friends and I don want to see it all cut short because I couldn get my ass up off the couch. Too busy? You have plenty of time to rest when its all said and done. These are the days that we get to mold our body and dictate our health. I personally am enjoying listening to my body, wearing better clothes and eating with purpose, not just because it there. One month until the Vancouver Sun Run. Think you ready? Wrongly thought to conceal the flash of rifle fire from an observer, this valuable part actually protects the shooter's night vision. Rifle flash is created by excess powder burning when it comes in contact with the air after a bullet leaves a rifle's bore. Flash suppressors divert this visible flash as a means to protect the shooter's eyesight to allow for follow up shots. Flash suppressors can aid in accuracy and in some cases are needed for the rifle to function properly. Most are gimmicks designed with no real scientific basis and are built for form over function. There are hundreds of designs out there, but the top five were selected based solely on performance. In this review of the five best flash suppressors most suitable for an AR15 rifle, we will examine the Smith Enterprise Vortex A3, Smith Enterprise Vortex A2, Noveske KX3 (aka the Flaming Pig), the standard USGI A2 flash suppressor and the Smith Enterprise Vortex which is compatible with the Ops Inc family of sound suppressors. The Vortex reduces 99% of visible flash. this is a feat that no other manufacturer has come close to approaching. We tested three distinct pieces by Smith Enterprise and the only one that came close was the Noveske KX 3. The KX 3 is intended for use on shorter barreled rifles and aids in reliability. The back pressure helps to cycle the rifle. Noveske patterned this design on the Krinkov brake found on the Soviet AK74SU sub machinegun, where it was explicitly used for this purpose. The USGI made the list because it has been around so long and is good at what it does. The closed bottom port requires indexing with a crush washer which unfortunately contributes to flash signature.
